This role is based within our flagship landmark Food Hall on Brighton’s seafront! Shelter Hall is made up of 7 kitchens and 2 bars split across 2 floors, with private dining and unbeatable outside space. The Role

As a Kitchen Porter at Shelter Hall, you’ll play an essential part in keeping our venue running smoothly behind the scenes. You’ll support our teams by keeping kitchen and back-of-house areas clean, organised and ready for service. From maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and washing equipment to managing waste and supporting the wider team during busy periods, you’ll help make sure everything keeps moving. Shelter Hall can get busy, so we’re looking for someone who isn’t afraid to get stuck in, works well as part of a team and takes pride in maintaining high standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Keeping kitchen and back-of-house areas clean, tidy and organised
  • Washing kitchen equipment, utensils, crockery and other items as required
  • Ensuring clean equipment is returned quickly and safely to the correct areas
  • Supporting with cleaning throughout service and at the end of the day
  • Managing waste and recycling correctly
  • Following all food hygiene, health & safety and COSHH procedures
  • Keeping floors, sinks, storage and wash-up areas clean and safe
  • Supporting the wider team wherever needed during busy services
  • Reporting any equipment, maintenance or safety issues to the management team

Requirements:

  • Previous Kitchen Porter or hospitality experience is great, but not essential
  • Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to spend long periods of time on your feet
  • Happy working in a physical and hands-on role
  • Positive attitude and willingness to get stuck in
  • Reliable and a strong team player
  • Good understanding of cleanliness and hygiene standards
  • Good level of English language
  • Right to work in the UK
